Synopsis "Freeing The Police Supply Chain"

This book addresses the systemic conditions that communities of color face; yet, often ignored. It challenges the notion that pouring old wine in old bottles will work. It also challenges the notion that pouring new wine in old bottles will work. And after dismissing the first two choices, the book proposes law enforcement has to pour new wine into new bottles. It treats the race question in law enforcement as a political problem since all races are composed on 99.9 percent of the same DNA. And as such, our environment plays a critical role in how we make decisions. In emphasizing the important of environment, the author used the quality of life data from the Pew Research Center to track the patterns of social, economic, and political disparities that blacks and browns continue to experience. The author discusses the importance of changing the individual, but his major concern is to train individuals to re-build their communities. The author realizes the importance of using individuals as change agents but he also recognizes the importance of changing institutions. As with previous works, the author advocates providing citizens with self-regulatory training that results in less police arrest or police actions. The saving from the police budget can be divert to educate our young people so that they may compete of on a global scale. The author believes that we must do more than rehabilitate individuals; we must rehabilitate communities by rebuilding them. Supply Side Policing, therefore, focuses on the systemic conditions that impact crime and seeks to develop long term strategies that will narrow these social, economic, and political disparity gaps. The book seeks to initiate such a dialog.
