He is currently a professor of Public Law with an international and comparative focus at the University of Zurich. He earned his LL.M. at the London School of Economics and his PhD at the University of Nottingham. His research focuses on human rights and comparative constitutional law.

Among his most notable works are Human Rights and Non-Discrimination in the 'War on Terror' (2008), Exclusion from Public Space: A Comparative Constitutional Analysis (2016), and, as co-editor, International Human Rights Law (2010), an influential handbook on international human rights law. Sangeeta Shah is a professor of International Law and Human Rights at the Faculty of Law, University of Nottingham. She earned her undergraduate degree in Economics and Law, as well as a Master's in Jurisprudence at Durham University. Her research focuses on international human rights law, and she has published in prominent journals such as the Modern Law Review and the European Journal of International Law. Additionally, she is a member of the editorial boards of the Modern Law Review and the Human Rights Law Review.

Among her most notable works are Human Rights and Private International Law (2016), co-written with James Fawcett and Maire Ní Shúilleabháin, and International Human Rights Law (2022), where she served as co-editor alongside Daniel Moeckli and Sandesh Sivakumaran.
