Thomas Eidson (born in 1944) is an American author known for his novels set in the 19th century Old West. He began his literary career at the age of 50 with St. Agnes' Stand (1994), which was praised for its narrative and setting.
His most notable work is The Last Ride (1995), published in Spanish as La última galopada. This novel was adapted into a film in 2003 by director Ron Howard under the title The Missing (Desapariciones in some Spanish-speaking countries), starring Tommy Lee Jones and Cate Blanchett. Eidson continued to explore the western genre with titles such as All God's Children (1996) and Hannah's Gift (1998), establishing himself as a notable voice in contemporary American Western literature.
