BARBARA OAKLEY is a writer and professor of Engineering at Oakland University, Michigan. Her research focuses on the relationship between neuroscience and social behavior and, like her own life, has always been considered very revolutionary. Before becoming a teacher, she enlisted in the American army and was a translator, as she wanted to be a linguist. But upon leaving the armed forces, she redirected her career towards engineering, eventually earning two bachelor's degrees, a master's, and a PhD in that field. Her work is praised by the scientific community and the most prestigious press, such as the Wall Street Journal and The New York Times.
