Synopsis "The New Cadets (1)"

Oliver, a toy dog, is recruited from his store to become a Dream Ranger, a guardian spirit that helps out children in their dreams. His recruiters work for the Bureau of Dreams and are quick to tell Oliver about risks he will be making. For one, untrustworthy individuals have recently become aware of the Bureau and the existence of Rangers. This requires great caution and secrecy on the part of the recruiters. Though Oliver arrives at the Outer Station without any troubling incidents, two of his classmates go through a desperate car chase before joining the others. From here, the dogs move on to Crossover, where they become living, breathing dogs, an experience that takes some getting used to. Before long, they are forming close relationships with classmates and older cadets, as well as with Crossover's humans. An early trip to the Variable Sea brings about a near tragedy.
