Synopsis "A Confederate Conspiracy"

When John Wilkes Booth stepped into that theatre to assassinate Abraham Lincoln, he did so without the knowledge or consent of the Confederate government. But what if the Confederates had developed their own plot to assassinate the President? It's early spring in 1865. The bloodiest war in the nation's history is coming to an end. Despite their best efforts, the Confederates are losing and they know it. Borne out of desperation, members of the rebel government develop a plot to assassinate Abraham Lincoln, hoping that such an act might help turn things around. Against the orders of Confederate President, Jefferson Davis, the deadly plot is set into motion when a trio of hired killers are summoned from Canada to carry out the assassination. Meanwhile, Jack Wescott, a down and out Union soldier who recently deserted his regiment after learning that his wife left him, accidentally overhears details of the plot while lying in an alley after a drunken fight in a tavern in the nation's capital. This sets him on a dangerous mission to discover the true nature of the plot, track down the assassins, and stop them before they can carry out their deadly task.
