La irrealidad aparente y la extrañeza de los hechos que se narran sólo cobran pleno sentido en las últimas páginas. El argumento, por absurdo y prodigioso que parezca, me fue contado como verdad vivida por el protagonista de la historia, ya fallecido. Las circunstancias de este hecho, del cual tuve el privilegio de ser albacea y confidente, no importan ya gran cosa. Me he atrevido a dar forma al testimonio de esa persona y a traicionar la promesa de no hacerlo. Hago mal, lo sé. Pero creo que la historia merece ser contada, aunque para ellos tenga que apelar al tiempo y a la paciencia de ustedes.
