Die Epidemie der Atherosklerose wird von der Weltgesundheitsorganisation als globale Bedrohung anerkannt und gilt als starker unabhängiger Risikofaktor für ein kardiales Ereignis und eine koronare Herzkrankheit. Um die Wirksamkeit eines Aufklärungsprogramms über Atherosklerose-Risikofaktoren bei Patienten der Arztpraxis zu ermitteln, wurde eine quasi-experimentelle Interventionsstudie mit 35 Patienten im Alter zwischen 30 und 70 Jahren durchgeführt, die ein Atheroskleroserisiko aufwiesen. Auf der Grundlage des ermittelten Bedarfs wurde ein Schulungsprogramm konzipiert und umgesetzt. Der umgesetzte Vorschlag wirkte sich günstig auf die Patienten aus, da er zu positiven Veränderungen in ihrer Lebensweise führte.
