Synopsis "Blown Apart"

The story opens in Paris in 1995, where Ella is living, having fled Ireland to escape a troubled and complex romance with Todd, a loyalist ex-convict from Belfast, Northern Ireland. The development of the relationship between Ella and Todd is told in retrospect, and through it she becomes a witness to his involvement with the UVF, a terrorist organisation in Belfast back in the 1970's. As they become increasingly involved, however, she begins to wonder about his current life in Belfast, about which he is very closed and if he has an ulterior motive in coming to see her in Dublin. In addition, she is haunted by the murder of a young man in her village back in the 1970's, by the UVF, and her suspicions deepen as to whether Todd was one of the perpetrators.A peace rally in Dublin, which Ella helps to organise, brings everything to a head for both.THIS BOOK WON A FIRST NOVEL AWARD IN 2012 IN THE WRITERS CENTRE IN DUBLIN.
