Synopsis "Che Cos'è la Risposta Immunitaria? (in Italian)"

Il sistema immunitario distingue due gruppi di sostanze estranee. Un gruppo è costituito da antigeni che circolano liberamente nell'organismo. Si tratta di molecole, virus e cellule estranee. Un secondo gruppo è costituito da cellule self che presentano proteine MHC aberranti. A seconda del tipo di invasione estranea, si verificano due diverse risposte immunitarie: La risposta umorale (o risposta mediata da anticorpi) coinvolge le cellule B che riconoscono gli antigeni o gli agenti patogeni che circolano nella linfa o nel sangue ("umor" è un termine medievale per indicare il liquido corporeo). La risposta cellulo-mediata coinvolge soprattutto le cellule T e risponde a qualsiasi cellula che mostri marcatori MHC aberranti, comprese le cellule invase da agenti patogeni, le cellule tumorali o le cellule trapiantate.
