No estoy sola en esta tribuna Me rodean voces, centenares de voces, siempre estan conmigo. Desde pequeña. Vivia en un pueblo. A los niños nos gustaba jugar en la calle, pero por las tardes nos atraian, como imanes, los bancos junto a las casas, o jatas, como se dice en nuestra tierra, en las que se reunian las mujeres agotadas. Ninguna de ellas tenia marido, padre o hermanos; no recuerdo que hubiera hombres en el pueblo despues de la guerra: durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, en Bielorrusia, en el frente y en las operaciones de los partisanos, perecio uno de cada cuatro bielorrusos. Nuestro mundo infantil de despues de la guerra era un mundo de mujeres.El discurso del Nobel de Aleksievich, en edicion ilustrada, es la mejor manera de descubrir a una de las voces mas destacadas de nuestro tiempo.

Arnal Ballester (Barcelona, 1955) is a Spanish illustrator known for his expressive graphic style and narrative approach to illustration. With a degree in History from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, he began his professional career in the graphic humor press in the 1970s, contributing to magazines such as El Papus and Por Favor.

In the 1980s, he ventured into the world of role-playing games, working for the publisher Joc Internacional. There, he designed covers, logos, and game screens, notably his work on titles like Stormbringer and Aquelarre.

From 1992, he turned to illustrating children's books, creating works like Los artísticos casos de Fricandó, which earned him the National Illustration Award in 2008. His style is characterized by abstract images and dynamic compositions, influenced by constructivism and the clear line.

In addition to his work as an illustrator, Ballester was a professor of Visual Narration at the Escola Massana d’Art i Disseny in Barcelona from 1989 to 2020. His legacy continues in children's literature and in training new generations of illustrators.
