Santiago Roncagliolo (Peru, 1975) is a writer, screenwriter, and journalist born in Lima. His novel Red April earned him the Alfaguara Novel Prize and has been translated into more than twenty languages. Among his most notable works are Modesty, The Fourth Sword, Memoirs of a Lady, and The Maximum Penalty. He has ventured into children's and theatrical literature, and his work is characterized by exploring violence and the recent history of Peru. He was included by Granta magazine among the best Spanish-speaking writers under 35 years old and has received the Steamboat Prize for children's literature.
