A young bi-racial woman, shaded by the pressing of social norms, cultural identification, racial disintegration, sexuality, and heartache discovers a sense of tenacity, vigorous power struck passion and undying resilience to tell her stories through Flowmatree. Flowmatree is a poetry book that follows my experiences as the author through short story introductions and compilations of poetry. My encounters as a deeply dark shaped woman with an iridescent glow of innocence have made my words and my life something of a flowmatree. Grasping the deeply rugged roots that tie my being to the mother of earth, the branches that blossom like wisdom, and my leaves I shed as hope and truth to the ones that play beneath my age drawn bark. The more I am not accepted or defined in the beautiful butterflies intricate fuzzy wings, the more I understand the knotted curls of my own being, pulling, breaking, and remolding till I have crafted the statue of my Imani. I have found my cure for pain, my medicinal for loneliness. I have found my poetry, my voice of communication between my experiences as a woman of vintage love, colorful endurances, paths not yet treaded, the art of loneliness, and the vulnerability in the crevices of all our deepest beings.
