Synopsis "Hyperbarrischer Sauerstoff (in German)"

Bei der hyperbaren Sauerstofftherapie (HBOT) wird reiner Sauerstoff in einem unter Druck stehenden Raum oder einer Röhre eingeatmet. Die hyperbare Sauerstofftherapie ist eine bewährte Behandlung der Dekompressionskrankheit. In einer hyperbaren Sauerstofftherapiekammer wird der Luftdruck auf das Dreifache des normalen Luftdrucks erhöht. Unter diesen Bedingungen kann die Lunge mehr Sauerstoff aufnehmen, als es bei normalem Luftdruck möglich wäre, reinen Sauerstoff zu atmen. Die hyperbare Sauerstofftherapie (HBOT) wurde erstmals 1887 in der Fachzeitschrift The Lancet beschrieben und ist vor allem für die Behandlung von Tiefseetauchern bekannt, die an der "Taucherkrankheit" (Dekompressionskrankheit) leiden.
