La resaca es la última novela que Stevenson publicó en su vida, y una de sus obras más logradas, por su vigor narrativo y belleza estilística. En ella, tres vagabundos, a los que la adversidad convirtió en escoria del Pacífico Sur, se hacen cargo de un pailebote que transporta champan desde California a Sidney. A fuerza de emborracharse descubren que la mayor parte de las botellas sólo contienen agua, y que tampoco cuentan con provisiones suficientes como para alcanzar algún puerto importante. Avistan entonces una isla que no figura en la carta, en la que se topan, buscando su salvación, con el cuarto personaje. Allí, en medio de un clima de creciente tensión, ocurriró el desenlace de una trampa perfecta.

(Edinburgh, 1850 - Samoa, 1894) British novelist, short story writer, poet, and essayist. He entered the University of Edinburgh at the age of sixteen to follow in his father's footsteps and become a lighthouse engineer, a career he would later abandon. His nautical studies allowed him to come into contact with seafaring people and customs, key ingredients in some of his most famous works. His renowned work, Treasure Island, was published under the pseudonym Captain George North in 1881. In 1886, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, one of the great classics of literature, was released. He died on the island of Samoa, at his home, Vailima.
