Synopsis "Lacuna"

Life is hard. For teenagers, many of life's difficulties arise from the tumultuous transition between innocent childhoods and weary adulthoods, resulting in confused, incongruent identities. For Mira Sharma, writing poetry is a means of untangling the complexities of her self and her surroundings. Unbounded by even standard grammar conventions, poetry is what sets Mira free. This book is an accumulation of the poems she has written over the years, which delve into topics such as racial identity, societal pressures, and dealing with the losses of friends and family.
