Orson Scott Card (nacido el 24 de agosto de 1951, en Richland, Washington) es un prolífico escritor estadounidense conocido principalmente por su obra de ciencia ficción. Ganó reconocimiento mundial con Ender’s Game y su secuela Speaker for the Dead, convirtiéndose en el único autor que recibió consecutivamente los prestigiosos premios Hugo y Nebula. Sus historias suelen explorar protagonistas dotados de capacidades extraordinarias que enfrentan decisiones éticas de gran peso.

Card también creó la notable serie de fantasía The Tales of Alvin Maker, ambientada en una versión alternativa de la frontera estadounidense, y ha incursionado en novelas de ambientación bíblica como la serie Women of Genesis. Su producción literaria abarca además thrillers, fantasía contemporánea, poesía, teatro y guiones, demostrando una versatilidad notable.
