oung children experience a wide range of emotions when presented withchallenges in their learning. These emotions, such as stress and anxiety, can lead to physical symptoms of distress yet these can be supportedproactively by having children explore appropriate strategies to copewith them. Magic PIE is our first book to help and guide children to usean effective breathing strategy as a tool when faced with overwhelmingemotions while in school.This book is intended to address the social-emotional-learning (S.E.L.) skillsin Mathematical Processes and has a direct connection with Ontario MathCurriculum. The SEL skills aim at helping students, identify and manageemotions, express and manage feelings, all while they engage positivelyin mathematics activities. On the other hand, these feelings and emotionscan be emerging in many other situations regardless of the subject area.Therefore, this book and the skills within have relevance in many differentareas in the day-to-day life of a child.Through this book, young minds may find connections to the situationsthat affect them, sensations that they feel as a result of anxieties andworries and the coping strategies that can be helpful to them.
