Sienna Vale, the thirty-year-old star of the hit detective drama Homicide Division, is used to being watched. What she isn't used to is feeling watched in ways no one should be able to manage off camera. When anonymous notes begin appearing in her trailer, then in her apartment, and finally in deeply private spaces inside her home, Sienna realizes someone is tracking her with terrifying intimacy. As her fear grows, she leans on the one person who seems to understand exactly what she is going through: Adrian Cross, a calm, attentive production assistant who always seems to appear when she needs him most.Their connection turns physical just as the stalking worsens.Desperate for answers, Sienna begins investigating Adrian's past and uncovers a chilling pattern tied to another actress, Lila Hart, who left a previous television series under whispers of instability and stress. When Sienna seeks Lila out, she learns the truth: Adrian has done this before. He studies women, embeds himself in their routines, creates fear, and then makes himself indispensable as the one person who can soothe it.When Sienna finally confronts him, Adrian's carefully controlled fantasy collapses. She runs through the studio set where they both know every corner, triggering a hidden emergency alarm before he catches her in the fake apartment set from her show. Panicked and exposed, Adrian grabs her and holds a pocket knife to her throat. When the blade cuts her and he refuses to release her, police shoot him.In the aftermath, Sienna survives the attack and learns the full scope of Adrian's obsession. What he offered was never love, safety, or understanding. It was access. And in Number One Fan, Sienna must survive the terrifying truth that being intensely seen is not the same thing as being loved.
