Orton-Gillingham Decodable Stories - Level 4 - The Rabbit. Structured Literacy Decodable Reader for Developing Readers
Tammy Harris (Author) · Soundsteps Learning Press · Paperback
The Rabbit
The Rabbit is a Level 4 structured literacy decodable reader designed to help children apply foundational phonics skills through carefully controlled, engaging text.
Ken and Dad are having fun on the deck when a rabbit hops into the grass. At first, the rabbit munches on the plants. Then it jumps onto the deck and gets inside the house.
Ken and Dad search the den and hall. They find mud and grass but no rabbit. Then they hear a loud thud. The rabbit has fallen down the steps.
Ken helps the rabbit get safely outside, but it soon returns. Ken would like to keep it as a pet, but Mom has another idea. Perhaps a cat would be a better choice.
The clear story sequence, predictable sentence patterns and controlled vocabulary help developing readers practise accurate decoding while building fluency, comprehension and reading confidence.
