Volume 2 contains Gramsci's notebooks 3, 4, and 5, written between 1930 and 1932. Fundó el Partido Comunista de Italia en 1921 y fue encarcelado por el régimen fascista en 1926, durante cuyo encarcelamiento escribió su obra más importante, los Cuadernos de la Cárcel, publicada póstumamente.
