El oficio del periodismo acompañó prácticamente toda la obra de Marta Brunet. Como Premio Nacional de Literatura en 1961, sus novelas y cuentos han sido más difundidos que su labor de reportera, con la que pudo acercarse tanto a grandes personajes como a héroes anónimos que mantenían latente el Chile de la primera mitad del siglo XX. Este libro contiene una selección de sus textos periodísticos divididos por género y cronológicamente: desde la sección fija en el diario El Sur entre 1927 y 1930 llamada “Kaleidoscopio” hasta sus apariciones bajo seudónimo en la revista Familia y sus columnas en el diario La Hora y la revista Repertorio Americano, donde marcó una impronta política y social.
