Synopsis "Sandpile Model Under Rotational Constraint"

External bias was found to have non-trivial effect on the critical behavior of lattice statistical models in equilibrium critical phenomena. Directed self-avoiding walks, directed percolation etc. exhibit different critical behavior than the respective models without directional bias. Similarly, spiral self-avoiding walks, spiral percolation, directed spiral percolation etc. belongs to new universality classes than their original counter part in absence of rotational field. Non-equilibrium systems like sandpile models that exhibit self organized criticality also have different critical behavior under global directed bias. A new sandpile model is constructed applying rotational constraint on the toppling dynamics on a Bak, Tang and Wiesenfeld (BTW) type sandpile model in order to study the effect of rotational bias on the critical properties at out of equilibrium situation. The non-equilibrium steady state of this model is studied developing several new statistical methods besides the existing numerical techniques. The results obtained are compared with that of the existing models mostly with the BTW and the Manna model.
