Synopsis "Strong Poison"

Strong Poison is a mystery novel by Dorothy L. Sayers, her fifth featuring Lord Peter Wimsey and the first in which Harriet Vane appears. In this novel, mystery novelist Harriet Vane is on trial for poisoning her former lover, with all evidence pointing to her guilt.
Mystery novelist Harriet Vane knew all about poisons, and when her former lover died in the manner prescribed in one of her books, a jury had a hangman's noose in mind. The Crown's case seems watertight, as Harriet had been identified buying arsenic for 'research' and had a plausible motive after her lover, who advocated 'free love,' subsequently proposed marriage, causing her to leave him.
With a re-trial ordered, Wimsey has a limited time to use his intellect and a team of unconventional investigators to delve into the case, uncover the true murderer, and prevent a grave miscarriage of justice.
The story blends a compelling whodunit with the development of the enduring relationship between Wimsey and Vane.
