Sunny, Wait! - Danielle J Durham

One, two, three, four... Where is Sunny?

Mama Duck likes to keep her ducklings together. But Sunny’s world is full of things to follow-a fluttering butterfly, a shiny leaf, a hopping frog. Every little discovery pulls him away from the line, and Mama Duck keeps guiding him back.

Then Sunny follows his curiosity farther than ever before. The grass grows tall, the familiar path disappears, and suddenly he can’t see his family. How will he find his way home?

Sunny, Wait! is a gentle farmyard adventure about a curious little duckling and the challenge of staying close when the world is so interesting. With rhythmic repetition and familiar animal characters, the story invites young readers to join Mama Duck’s counting and watch for Sunny’s next detour.

Part of Danielle Durham’s Outskirts of Heaven Farm children’s book series, Sunny, Wait! offers families and educators a starting point for conversations about listening, paying attention, and staying safe while exploring. Inspired by life on a real North Carolina farm, it’s a read-aloud for children ages 4-8 who always have one more thing to investigate.
