Synopsis "Tall Stories"

My last book, Lion Man, dealt with murder and guilt. It was not, said my wife, Diane, her favourite. I made an offer which surprised me.'Would Diane like me to write a book of her own choosing as a very personal present?'After all, our 60th wedding anniversary loomed. Her 80th birthday year was also near as was her 80th Christmas.Anyone of the married tendency will immediately recognise that I had made a commitment. After a short reflection, my wife agreed. My plans for the next nine months changed abruptly.'What sort of book? What's the subject? What are the rules?A book about trees which could also be about wood. Lots of short stories, some placed in Four Marks where we lived. Each tale different in style and content. Fact, fable, manuals, lists, adventure, romance, science, fantasy. Lots of 'nice' pictures. 'Don't talk to me about it until it is finished.'It has been a quiet home for some months. Just a clacking of the keyboard. Here's the book.
