Synopsis "The Naiads"

Combining the artwork of Kelly Bastow with the poetry of The Women with Fire in their Bellies, The Naiads is an experience unlike any other in literature. The Naiads are here -- spirits of feminine energy that preside over the water, the flow of rivers and the flow of their forms becoming one. With barnacles in their hair and hunger in their hearts, The Naiads keep watch of the sea they are of, vast and unknowable to any who are not a part of it. They scream with passion. They rant with rage. They sorrow with torment. And above all else, they transform. Showcasing the artwork of renowned Canadian artist Kelly Bastow (Manifred the Man, My Dad Our Boat and Me) alongside the poetry it inspired by Newfoundland's most incredible poets, The Naiads is a treat for the eyes, the mind, and the heart. Featuring the poetry of Hannah Jenkins (The Birds Come Back in the Spring), Samm Joyy (A Decade) and Krysta Fitzpatrick (The Vicious Kind), The Naiads is a collection you will read and re-read: to yourselves, and to your daughters.
