Synopsis "The One in Charge"

Al Taylor grew up during the Great Depression. His father was an abusive bootlegger, and Al left home at a young age. He joined the Army and was stationed in Hawaii during a very traumatic event, the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor. Al and a team of doctors worked tirelessly for two days straight to stabilize those injured in the attack. Read how Al describes the attack and about his post-war life. There is a lot to learn about helping others in his story! Together, Gracie Ryckaert and Kenzie Reimers wrote and illustrated this story of hero Al Taylor for children of all ages.
