Synopsis "The Sattler's Diary "

What made Sattler's unique? This is the chronological story of the Sattler family and the hellzapoppin' store, lovingly known as 998. It includes an array of photographs and local history, as well as hundreds of memories and stories from family, employees and customers. This book will give you a comforting good-hearted walk down to 998 Broadway. Remember the sounds of the 998 jingles, the smell of the freshly squeezed orange juice and the roasting peanuts' tempting aroma as you walk through the store. Reach back in your memory and hold that delicious Sattler's custard cone! Don't forget Sattler's shoe and dress wars, the weddings in the store window, Jimmy Durante, Buffalo Bob Smith, Andy Williams, James Whitmore, Virginia Mayo, Eddie Polo, Joseph Dunninger, Eddie Cantor, Mrs. Casey Jones, Elsie the Cow, Christmas parades, elephants in the parking lot, seals in the main store window, the Ralston Rocket, the big cheese, "Symphony 998," Whiteouts for Victory, lettuce auction for Bataan, Victory Bonds, The Golden Girl, Teen Town and the Mighty Bargain Airlift! This book is a circus of fun with a sprinkling of local history. It will make your heart smile!
