Synopsis "The Second Comings"

The idea was not really serious. Yet Alan Davidson, a brilliant molecular biologist and his friend Stephen Michaels, an administrator in an In Vitro fertilization clinic decided to do it - and have a vacation at the same time. Their idea was to get help. After all, between political conflict and environmental destruction, the world was a mess. Their Project was to recreate the Messiah.

In the beginning things went well. Their trip to the Holy Land to obtain the genetic material was both successful and fun, despite what happened while in Jerusalem. Once back home, life and work on the Project seemed to progress smoothly, for a while. Then events began to spin out of control or, perhaps, passed out of their control. The result was that the Project succeeded, but in a way the men could never have foreseen. For this success they paid a terrible price, but the true catastrophic consequences lay fully 35 years in the future.

The story interweaves presidential politics and Mafia philanthropy against a background of insanity and military crisis. The principle characters in this book are not as they seem. The facts in this thoughtful technothriller are clear but, what do they mean? How can this story end? Has the story ended?
