Synopsis "Voyage"

Sarah Gurney's work is vulnerable and personal. She speaks self-doubt that she feels but are also universal, drawing us in and making us feel less alone in the world. I think my favorite poem here is "Self-Portrait" whose implications are so much more powerful than the words alone are. I feel that always in her work. This is a collection that should be read and then reread more slowly so the words can work their way through you.John Brantingham, Poet Laureate of Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park Sarah Gurney is currently a student alumna at Mount San Antonio College in Walnut, California. She lives with her mother in Diamond Bar, California.
