"For the right angle of even heat I would pay with my life..." Arseny Tarkovsky's enigmatic line could become the epigraph of this book. What is the reason to pay for a corner if you don't live there? To make sure it exists? What is your place in the hundred-thousand-piece jigsaw puzzle of the earth: your home, your business, your meaning? To understand if the choices are mutual? Is the search for life worth living, or is it called life? The author answers these questions by exploring the metaphysics of the relationship between man and place, reflecting on the psychology of strange feelings and actions, the unconscious and the unknowable. About a black cat in a dark room and a mirror in an empty one. "Where the Pheasant Hides" is the third collection of short stories by Max Nevoloshin.
