Goseki Kojima
Gōseki Kojima (Yokkaichi, Japan, November 3, 1928 – January 5, 2000) was a prominent Japanese mangaka, known for his mastery in the gekiga genre, characterized by mature and realistic narratives. He began his artistic career painting movie posters and working in kamishibai, a form of paper theater. He debuted in manga in 1957 with Onmitsu Kuroyoden. His most famous collaboration was with screenwriter Kazuo Koike, forming a creative duo that marked a milestone in manga history.

Among his most notable works is Lone Wolf and Cub (1970–1976), a series that redefined samurai manga. Other notable collaborations with Koike include Samurai Executioner (1972–1976) and Path of the Assassin (1978–1984), which explores the life of the ninja Hattori Hanzō. His detailed and expressive artistic style has influenced numerous artists and has been internationally recognized, being posthumously inducted into the Will Eisner Hall of Fame in 2004.
