Joya Goffney
Joya Goffney grew up in New Waverly, a small town in East Texas. In high school, she challenged herself with to-do lists filled with risky things like "hug a random guy" and "eat a cricket", which inspired her first novel, "Excuse Me While I Ugly Cry". Passionate about African American social psychology, she moved from the countryside to attend the University of Texas at Austin and has since settled in Houston.
