Synopsis "Cerebral stereotaxis"

The term stereotaxis means "ordering in space". It is about locating a point or target in the brain and bringing there with precision and safety a biopsy instrument. Stereotaxis finds an exemplary field of application in the approach of brain tumors and, in general, in the morphological and functional approach of the structures of the brain. We propose to make an analytical study of 288 observations collected in the neurosurgery department of the Mohamed V military training hospital in Rabat, and which all benefited from surgery in stereotaxic conditions. The study spanned a period of 15 years of practice of this technique 1999 and 2014. The limitations of our study are the retrospective collection of clinical and radiological data, which may lead to an analysis bias. However, the retrospective nature of this study makes it possible to have a large staff over a long given period. A prospective study would have allowed a more precise assessment of the variables and risks studied, but its realization, over a shorter period, would have resulted in a biopsy group.
