Synopsis "Deep Dark"

"Deep Dark" is a fast paced science fiction thriller that introduces readers to a possible future for humanity in the darkness of space. In the mid-22nd century, humanity has begun to expand throughout the Milky Way Galaxy with some alien assistance. High taxes, mistrust of their alien ally, and the failure to discover any habitable planets is causing widespread unrest among the humans. As a result, the United Earth Federation discusses disbanding its marine forces to cut costs and to appear less military oriented. Meanwhile, criminal elements seek to take advantage of the turmoil by moving their operations into space with the target goal of space piracy. However, the pirates accidentally involve the United Earth Federation navy and marines and humans engage each other in humanities first space battle. Who will prevail? Will crime and isolationism jeopardize future human endeavors into the galaxy?
