Im Mittelpunkt der Themen steht au erdem die gegenwärtige Problematik des Menschen im Nahen Osten zwischen seinen Sehnsüchten und den au erhalb seiner Macht liegenden politischen Umständen, zwischen Heimat und Flucht, Mythos und Wahrheit, Selbstbestimmung und Fremdbestimmung. Die Suche nach sowohl politischer als auch geistiger Freiheit und das Streben nach einem würdevollen Leben werden hier unter anderem skizziert.
