Jon's life was a well-coordinated routine. He woke up, went to work, got home. His meals were organized ahead of time, as were his groceries, the clothes he wore, the times he showered and slept, the route he took to work. Every day, he walked from his home to the nearby park, crossed it, then on to the office building where the Firm was headquartered. On the way back, he crossed the now dark park once more, then got to his little apartment. The office bully always made sure Jon's work life was miserable, and despite Jon's silent pining, he never managed to get the attention of the woman he liked at work.

This gloomy but orderly life shattered when one day, as he was crossing the park to work, he found a small piece of metal. More such pieces followed, arranged like breadcrumbs, but these did not show the way home. What doom awaits Jon at the end of this path?
