Synopsis "Jack: The Trilogy"

The Jack Trilogy - written between 2000-17 - is loaded with adventure, humor, some darkness, and spiced with a good dash of romance. I wrote it as a young adult historical fiction story that strongly appeals to adults too. "This is a rollicking read!" - said an Amazon reviewer. Readers will find themselves rooting for Jack and best friend, Jeremy, as they revolt against their racist, abusive teacher in Book 1. In the process they engage in some outrageous behavior. Jack is a difficult, controlling young man in his mid-teens, not only facing adulthood but already confronted by adult decisions. However, his dreams are not yet tempered by experience and reality. He is driven to find adventures and causes that he can rally around while pressuring his often-reluctant friends to join him. Books 2 and 3 are an exciting, page-turning high-seas adventure. Jack and Jeremy unwittingly sign to a slave ship voyage to Cuba and other islands after following their repentant teacher to sea. They meet two young Jamaican women who want to marry them, but Jack wants to join the southern army if war comes and wants Jeremy to follow along. Before Jack, Jeremy and their 'girlfriends' decide on whether or not all four should return to South Carolina together, they resolve to steal the slave ship, Helena, to free the 'cargo' of slaves after they board in Cuba. The trip becomes much longer than they expected and Jack finds more adventure and experience than even he could have anticipated. Pirate ships, slave ships, intrigue, spying, revolts, executions aboard ship as well a chase toward the African coast all factor into the plot in this adventure novel. Besides being an author, I am a former New York City English Language Arts and History teacher who currently lives in Rawai Beach, Thailand, with my wife, Uraiwan, and three dogs. I wrote other books including a children's book and a Holocaust novel.
