Baking is more than work; it's refuge-rhythm, solace, a way to keep the past at bay. Then a curious stranger begins to appear every afternoon, lingering at the window and "stealing" the fortune cookies Eli tucks beside her pastries, as if the little messages were addressed to him alone. Who is he, and what is he searching for in those folded slips of hope? Eli's curiosity draws her into a swirl of feelings she thought she'd retired-wonder, risk, the tremor of beginning again.Dominik King has everything money can stage and nothing it can promise. Blocked and restless, he starts to trust the fortunes as if they were signposts. But when life tilts and hard truths surface, he must learn the difference between luck and courage-and whether love can be chosen, not found. Sweet, coastal, and quietly luminous, this is a feel-good romance with a tender heart.
