In Bellweather, everyone knows everyone. And everyone knows the same thing: Nothing ever happens here. Detective Mara Voss has heard it all her life. Bellweather is quiet. Safe. Predictable. The kind of town where people leave their doors unlocked and old scandals eventually become forgotten stories. Then a woman who disappeared twenty years ago comes back. Clara Bell was presumed dead. No body was ever found. No killer was ever identified. And after two decades of unanswered questions, the town had finally accepted that the truth would never be known. But Clara knows exactly what happened. Before Mara can uncover the truth behind Clara's disappearance, a man connected to the original case is found dead. Evidence begins disappearing from the police station. Old records have been altered. People Mara thought she could trust are suddenly hiding secrets of their own. Then Mara discovers that her own father may have been connected to the case. As she digs deeper, the boundaries between victim, suspect, witness, and accomplice begin to disappear. Every answer leads to another question, and every person she trusts seems to have a reason to lie. Someone has spent twenty years making sure the truth stays buried. Now Mara is getting dangerously close to uncovering it. And in a town where everyone insists that nothing ever happens, the darkest secrets are often hiding in the most ordinary places. Nothing Ever Happens Here is a gripping small-town psychological thriller filled with murder, buried secrets, deception, family mysteries, and unexpected twists. Because sometimes the most dangerous place is the one where everyone believes they are safe.
