Synopsis "The Full Altar"

There was no altar. There was no knife. There never was, in the south, whatever the cold north believed.Only a warmth lifted gladly off a loved child at a high place, sung up to the god at the top of the cold, a fortune laid up against the dark. It was never a bill to the people who paid it. It was a gift, and they were glad to give it.But the store fills a little less every year. And one bright morning, the gift goes up as it always has, and is not received, and the sun comes up gold and useless on the white, and finds nowhere holy left to land.Warm where the others are cold, and no less devastating for it, The Full Altar closes the triptych of vantages on the same conservation-law world as the Eyvind trilogy: the one country that never called it a debt at all.The altar's view: a country that gives its warmth gladly, and calls it love, not law.A god who has taken every gift for an age, and one year does not take it back.A standalone novel, complete in itself: the third of three vantages on one world (the throne, the floor, the altar). No Eyvind-trilogy reading required. GIVEN GLADLY. SUNG UP. NOT RECEIVED. Read more
