Synopsis "The Word Jar"

The Word Jar by Jacque Duffy This is a wordless picture book with emotive illustrations that are easily deciphered by a young audience. This book is ideal for speech therapists and social - emotional wellbeing workers for children.Synopsis: New child at a school is emotionally tied up by the nasty things other children say. She discovers her own strength and resilience in a simple way and goes on to share this method with other children who have been incapacitated by the words of others. Here is a recommendation for the book by Prof B. Exley: "The Word Jar" by Jacque Duffy (2024) Children's book author/illustrator Jacque Duffy continues her special magic, this time creating a wordless picture book about words that harm and words that heal. In typical Duffy style, she invites the viewer into the home and school worlds of the young protagonist to explore the cleverly crafted collages that leave a trail of visual clues to prompt powerful and purposeful discussion. Highly recommended for family sharing and classroom learning. Professor Beryl Exley, School of Education and Professional Studies, Griffith University, Australia
