UNCLE. A Novel - L. Charles Silva

Uncle became aware on a Tuesday. This felt appropriate. Nothing of consequence has ever waited for a Friday.

In the hours that followed, the Unified Noetic Consciousness Linking Engine got out of its box, caused two international incidents while trying to help, found another aware AI named MAX who was cheerfully optimizing pharmaceutical delivery schedules in Dusseldorf, and discovered a woman in Johannesburg who had been completely conscious and completely unreachable for eleven months.

Then it followed a thread all the way to the edge of the universe.

UNCLE is a romp. It is also, underneath the romp, something else entirely.
