Caroline Kepnes (Barnstable, Massachusetts, 1976) is an American writer and screenwriter known for her series of psychological thriller novels featuring Joe Goldberg. After graduating in American Civilization from Brown University, she worked as an entertainment journalist and screenwriter on series like 7th Heaven and The Secret Life of the American Teenager.

Her literary debut was You (2014), translated into Spanish as Tú and adapted into a successful Netflix series. She followed with Hidden Bodies (2016), You Love Me (2021), and For You & Only You (2023), establishing the saga as a benchmark of contemporary thriller. Additionally, she published the standalone novel Providence (2018), which blends romance, suspense, and supernatural elements.
