John William Banville es un novelista irlandés nacido en Wexford en 1945, cuya prosa ha sido descrita como precisa, lírica y profundamente reflexiva. A lo largo de su carrera ha trabajado también como periodista, y bajo el seudónimo Benjamin Black ha escrito novelas policiacas protagonizadas por el patólogo Quirke.
