Thad Oliver was told that the cabin in the woods on the edge of his property had once belonged to a lumber baron by the name of Harold Salter. The cabin had been a hunting lodge back before the two world wars but was abandoned years ago after old Salter died, left to slowly tumble down, a victim of the persistent winds and weather in this rugged northeast corner of Oregon. So, when he drove out in his Jeep with his black lab, Rambo, to take a look, he was shocked when he saw lantern light shining in one of the windows. What Thad Oliver could not have imagined was that his coming confrontation with the armed men hiding out in the falling-down cabin would shatter his wilderness paradise and rekindle all the anger and fury he thought he had put far behind him thirty years ago when he came back from his tour of duty in Vietnam.
