¿Qué pintar? Esta es, justamente, la pregunta que se hizo la artista Kate Rebecca Leach cuando, después de muchos años, tomó un antiguo set de acuarelas que estaba acumulando polvo en un cajón.

Desde entonces inició un viaje de descubrimiento del color, las texturas y las decoraciones que la llevó a encantarse por completo con la acuarela abstracta y, posteriormente, a dar vida a este hermoso libro.

En esta páginas, la autora comparte los materiales esenciales para poner manos a la obra —un juego sencillo de pinturas, un frasco con agua, unos cuantos pinceles y papel—, algunas técnicas simples para crear formas y patrones, además de paletas de colores y trucos para hacer trazos y enmascarar.

Entre los distintos proyectos, cada uno de ellos explicado con instrucciones paso a paso, encontrarás formas geométricas simples, bloques, piedras irregulares, escamas, figuras botánicas y escenas tan expresivas como un paisaje marino a la luz de la luna.

Kate Rebecca Leach is a British artist, illustrator, and tutor, originally from Hertfordshire, United Kingdom. In 2020, she founded her brand, Essoldo Design, and since then has built a community of over 175,000 followers on Instagram. Her work is inspired by nature, encompassing everything from flowers and vegetation to gems and jewelry, and is characterized by the use of embellishments, especially gold details.

In 2023, she published her first book, Creative Abstract Watercolor: The beginner's guide to expressive and imaginative painting, a guide for beginners on abstract watercolor painting. This book has become a bestseller and is scheduled to be published in seven languages. Additionally, she has licensed products in the United Kingdom, Europe, and the United States, and has sold her work in over 35 countries.
