Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online.Adda Scher ( 3. Mrz 1867 in Chaklawa bei Kirkuk; 17. (?) Juni 1915) war ein Orientalist und Bischof der Chaldisch-Katholischen Kirche. Scher besuchte ab 1879 das Priesterseminar der Dominikaner in Mosul und wurde am 13. August 1889 zum Priester, am 30. November 1902 zum Bischof geweiht. Er amtierte als Erzbischof von Seert (Siirt) des Patriarchats von Babylon der Chalder, betrieb und verffentlichte daneben zahlreiche orientalistische Forschungen. Am 6. Juni 1915 wurde er im Zuge der osmanischen Christenverfolgung verhaftet, konnte zunchst mit Hilfe nichtchristlicher Freunde noch einmal fliehen, wurde eine Woche spter jedoch auf dem Weg nach Mosul entdeckt. Nach Ablehnung der Annahme des Islam verlor er das Leben. Seine Residenz, das Jakobs-Kloster bei Seert, wurde geplndert, Bibliothek und wissenschaftlicher Nachlass zerstreut oder zerstrt. Dreizehn Manuskripte seiner Sammlung blieben durch vorherige Schenkung an die Bibliothque nationale de France, Paris, erhalten.
