CHARLES BUKOWSKI (1920-1924) uno de los grandes renovadores de la poesía norteamericana, redactó estos poemas poco antes de su muerte y con la exigencia de que únicamente fueron publicados después de su muerte. Fueron escritos cuando ya estaba tan próximo al budismo como cercano a la poesía de Li Po. No hay en estos poemas artificios ni intención de aleccionar, sino mera necesidad de dejar constancia de una manera de ser. «Las palabras son más sencillas pero más cálidas. Heinrich Karl Bukowski (Andernach, Germany, August 16, 1920-San Pedro, Los Angeles, March 9, 1994), known as (Henry) Charles Bukowski, was a writer of short stories, a novelist, and a poet born in Germany, representative of dirty realism and considered a "cursed poet" due to his excessive alcoholism, poverty, and bohemian lifestyle

The literary work of Bukowski is strongly influenced by the atmosphere of the city of Los Angeles, where he spent most of his life. Today, he is considered one of the most influential writers of American literature and one of the symbols of "dirty realism" and independent literature

Bukowski wrote books in various genres, such as: diaries, stories, novels, poems, essays, and even wrote Barfly, a film screenplay based on his alter ego Henry Chinaski, directed by French filmmaker Barbet Schroeder, a film in which he made a cameo in a bar. He compiled this experience in a book of stories, Hollywood (1989)
